World Summit in Bologna Fast Approaching

For the first time ever, the World Summit for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery will be held in Bologna, Italy on June 5 – 8, 2024 and it will be hosted by the World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery (WSPCHS), the European Congenital Heart Surgeons Association (ECHSA) and the Congenital Heart Surgeons’ Society (CHSS).

The World Summit will include the participation of the Italian Society of Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology (SICP), the Association for European Paediatric and Congenital Cardiology (AEPC), the African Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery (ASPCHS), the Asian Association for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery (AAPCHS), the Sociedad Latina de Cardiología y Cirugía Cardiovascular Pediátrica, the Latin American Association of Cardiac and Endovascular Surgery (LACES), Congenital Heart Surgeons’ Society Japan (CHSS Japan).

We expect to bring together more than 500 delegates, representing the leading experts in the field from all over the world.

We are committed to make this World Summit the most comprehensive, current, and technologically-advanced meeting for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery.

Landmark Lectures at 8th Scientific Meeting of the WSPCHS,

As you know, the 2023 8th World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery is also the 8th Scientific Meeting of World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery (WSPCHS).
 
A hightlight of every scientific meeting are the lectures from preeminently surgeons from around the world.

Sixteen Plenary Session Landmark Lectures will take place in the mornings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:30 AM-9:15 AMET. Three Landmark Lectures will be presented by surgeons.

The publication of this issue of the World Journal for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery, volume 14, No. 4, marks another milestone for the World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery, and its official publication, the World Journal for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery (WJPCHS). In this issue, we welcome our colleagues from the African Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery (Figure 1). We are delighted and proud to announce that the African Society has selected WJPCHS as the official journal of their organization. Dr. Gerhard Ziemer
1953 – 2022

We announce with sorrow the sudden passing of our longtime colleague and friend, Gerhard Ziemer.

Gerhard was the Founding President of the European Congenital Heart Surgeons Association and Past President of the Society of Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery “Aldo R. Castañeda”. Gerhard was also a strong advocate for the establishment of the World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery and was a founding member of its Governing Council.

On behalf of the World Society, we express our sincere condolences to his wife, Sabine and to his family.
