The Word Database Committee 2021-2022
The World Database Committee includes a group of individuals that have dedicated their time and effort to the mission of the World Database, both in action and submission of patients. The agenda of the committee, through conference calls and sessions held at WSPCHS meetings, will address and provide input into current database issues. The committee will continue to provide insight into future directions of the database. With increase in the number of requests for data and the analysis for this data for specific QI projects, the committee will also serve to review and approve such projects. Our plan will be to begin virtual committee meetings early in 2023. As we move into 2023, we hope this group will assist in defining the future direction of the database, with the ongoing evolution of what is provided to our participants and advance the care of our patients.

Web Based Data Entry Updates-Version 1.0.9 (July 1, 2022)
The most recent revision is now live in the web based data entry system, and the updated forms, form manual, and appendices are available on the website; Data Collection forms.
There were two minor database revisions since our last (March 2020) newsletter. Version 1.0.8 released July 21, 2020 saw to two bug corrections and one new feature:
- Bug Fixes
- Within the Institutional Practice Details (IPD) Form questions 15 (Does your hospital have an Electronic Medical Records System?) and 16 (Does your hospital participate in a National Congenital Heart Surgery Database?) each have sub-question text boxes (15a: Software Vendor) (16a: Enter Name of Database) that now properly appear if yes is chosen in question 15 or 16
- Date validation for patient date of birth was updated so that it triggers both via “Patient Search” function and adding a new Surgery Form
- New Feature
- Introduced data submission from U.S. hospitals participating in the Congenital Heart Surgeons’ Society Quality Assurance (CHSS QA)!
The second, version 1.0.9 released July 1, 2022 to address various bugs and implement a heavily requested new feature.
- Bug Fixes
- Harvest File Upload Status – CHSS users will see all uploads, not just successful uploads
- Local Hospital Patient ID – very long IDs were causing application errors on form submission
- Surgery Form date of birth – validation was causing inappropriate date validation popups
- Death Form death date – validation failing to prevent death forms dated prior to Tier 1 surgery date
- Add Surgery Form – was returning incorrect search results when a user searched using multiple criteria (i.e. last name = “Smith” and gender = “Female”)
- New Feature
- Form Data Download: Sites can retrieve all data entered by the site via the WDPCHS Application in either excel “.xlsx” or comma separated value “.csv” file formats by form (i.e. Tier 1 Surgery, T2 Surgery, Follow-up, Death) and reflect up-to-the-minute data entry changes.
The WDPCHS KIRSO team are finalizing items to be included in release 1.0.10. In consideration for this version are text changes for CHSS 6 month and 1 year Follow-up Forms, updates to the previous cardiac surgeries section, and other.
Bi-Annual Reports
Additionally, we have begun the work to create a more modern and usable reporting platform that will provide an interactive way of looking at your data in real time. This new reporting system will provide a mechanism for you to compare your center against the aggregate in multiple ways, including advanced visualizations such as dual-axis line graphs, bubble charts, and others. Here are some samples of enhancements distributed in the last reports.
